Happy Thanksgiving- so grateful for you!

This is an email I just sent to my dearest cheerleaders…

“Autumn Glory”

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for your constant support of me and my big dream. So many of you have been with me, cheerleading from the beginning (40 years or so!) your encouragement, kind words, and support have truly helped me to bloom. This year has been an interesting one full of joys and challenges, I am grateful for both!

Holiday news! I have a whole line of new holiday cards for you in my greeting card company Greetings 4 Good! I am really excited to share that I have upgraded the stock I am printing on. It elevates the cards so nicely! I have cards that are appropriate for Christmas, Solstice, Hanukkah, and general holiday wishes. Cute and sentimental both! They are available on my website as well as in my studio!

This weekend is Black Friday and Small Business Saturday! I have exciting items to help you give unique (and not big box boring) gifts. Puzzles, market bags, art mugs, prints, and more! I am open Friday and Saturday from 11 am until 4 pm!

One of the items I am most excited about is “Seeds of Affirmation – it is an affirmation deck of cards that I have created. Science proves that positive thoughts have an incredible influence on our health. It reduces stress, increases immunity, and even prolongs our life!  This deck is a set of fifty-two cards, each with a positive affirmation and original art. The debut was earlier this month and it was so well received, that I have already printed it a second time! The introductory price of $25 is valid through this weekend. Find the deck on my website or in my studio!
Affirmations celebrated

I have so much more to share, but I also know this is a crazy time and you likely have too many emails already. Thank you for reading mine!

I hope that you will pop in this weekend (or make an appointment to do so) – or if you are not in the Rochester area, I hope to hear from you in another way. I hope that you are well. I hope your family and friends surround you with love and this holiday is full of great joy for you.

Thank you again for your love and support. It sounds cliche, but I truly feel that my success is fueled by the positivity and support of those who have been so passionately supporting me. Thank you.
with so much love and gratitude,
Susan

Open House This Saturday!

This is my last formal open house! I hope you will consider supporting my small business!

I do not know how to express to you what a difference it makes when you support artists and other small businesses. I don’t want to whine about it being a difficult three years. (but it has) I don’t want to tell you that this year has been hard. (but it has)

I do want you to know that the art and other products I have to offer are made with love. Art, the creation of art, seems to be taking the best that I am and putting it into a card, a painting, or a scarf. It is carefully choosing the colors and images to create something wonderful. It is working on a painting until it feels finished. It is about bringing the best that I am to offer to you and to the world. This can be incredibly vulnerable, but also incredibly thrilling when you affirm that I am doing good work. This happens with your kind words, your purchases, and your encouragement.

I hope to see you Saturday-

thank you for your support!

Sending so much love,

Susan

Art and rituals

Hannah Hamad shares the gallery this month. Hannah, like many of us, is a lovely assemblage of many things. She is a medical student (nearly finished), devoted to fitness and maybe a little adventure, and she is an artist. There are countless more ways to describe Hannah, but we will settle here for now. Her friend, Connie suggests that Hannah never does anything half way. She is “all in”.

That is clear with this exhibit. There are dozens of bowls carefully and pristinely crafted waiting to go home with the right person. Hannah’s workmanship is incredible. Her vision goes far beyond a block of wood. She is careful in her selections and sometimes even gets multiple pieces out of one block. As someone who has turned, this is not an easy thing to do! What Hannah turns into another vessel, would be woodchips on the studio floor for me.

I have spent quite a bit of time with Hannah’s work this month. I am fascinated by the textures and colors that I witness. I am enchanted by the multiple shapes and sizes.  I began thinking about the fact that these are not only art but art that could have a purpose other than appreciation.

Hannah’s title, “To Celebrate the Void” also inspired me. It has been a challenging month with a great loss of my “other” mother, Ginny Duffy. If I could ever name a time where I felt completely empty and useless it is during the time I have lost my own parents and now my other mom too. I felt powerless. I wanted to help, heal, anything! Prayer became a constant for me.

One of the frustrations I have about merely praying silently is it does not seem to be proactive enough. I suppose because I like to write, am an artist as well as visual and tactile in general, I want there to be more. I have used prayer beads when words fail me, I have a prayer journal to remember all those who are in need. There is something sacred about a more physical opportunity for prayer. It seems to have a power that I cannot explain.

Back to Hannah’s bowls. For me, the fact that they have come from the earth already makes them a sacred vessel. How much more so to use them as a prayer or intention bowl? I certainly do not wish to push my belief system on you, however, I see these pieces of art as not just beautiful, but also as an opportunity for utility. Like a prayer journal, her bowls could hold the most sacred and urgent of intentions, her efforts lifting the hearts deepest desires.

I hope that you will make time to stop in and see these beautiful pieces. Hannah has gone above and beyond to create the perfect piece for you to celebrate your own journey.

blessings,

Susan

Hannah Hamad’s To Celebrate the Void will be up through May 27th, 2019. Hours are Wednesday 10 am – 2 pm, Thursday 3-7pm, Friday 2-5 pm, and Saturday 10 am -3 pm. Hours are also available by chance or appointment. Susan@CreateArt4Good.org

CJ Infantino

We opened this exhibit tonight – The work is quite lovely. It is almost introspective as far as the relationship between light and dark. It is quite apparent to me. that this is not only a reflection of objects, but also personal. Each of us holds the opportunity for light and dark within ourselves as well as our words. In the shadows somehow we think we don’t reveal all that much, however, honestly, it is in the shadows, where you feel you are hidden that perhaps you reveal the most.

Tonight’s exhibit will be open throughout the month of April. If you are unable to visit during one of the schedule times, please email me to schedule an opportunity. I believe art is always an inspiring experience. Most especially this is true when you take a moment to truly embrace the work, the artist’s intent and the opportunity.

See you tonight?

blessings and love,

Susan
